چکیده
This paper presents the benefits of PVA fibers in improving mechanical properties class F fly-ash-based geopolymer concrete. The activator used was 8M sodium hydroxide (NaOH) and silicate (Na2SiO3), with a mass ratio Na2SiO3 to NaOH varied from 1.5 2.5. Cylindrical specimens diameter 100 mm height 200 were prepared for strength tests. geopolymers fixed at 0.4%, 0.6%, 0.8% by total volume. Some tests carried out, including compression, splitting, direct tensile elastic modulus It found that mixture alkalis fiber content 0.4% had best workability. highest compressive obtained alkali ratios 2.0, 0.6% addition. متن کاملFibers from Soybean Protein and Poly(vinyl alcohol)
Bicomponent fibers were wet-spun from soybean protein and poly(vinyl alcohol). The protein core of the spun bicomponent fiber was brittle and showed a high frequency of core breakage upon drawing. Our effort was then to study the soybean protein solution, with the aim of trying to understand the cause for fiber brittleness and to determine the optimum solution conditions for fiber spinning. The...
متن کاملEvaluation of morphology and cell behaviour of a novel synthesized electrospun poly(vinyl pyrrolidone)/poly(vinyl alcohol)/hydroxyapatite nanofibers
Objective(s): Three-dimensional structures such as nanofibrous scaffolds are being used in biomedical engineering as well as provide a site for cells to attach and proliferate leading to tissue formation. In the present study, poly(vinyl pyrrolidone) (PVP)/ poly(vinyl alcohol)(PVA) hybrid nanofibrous scaffold was synthesized by electrospinning. Materials and Methods: The effect of adding nano h...
متن کاملA Novel Cross-linked Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) for Vascular Grafts
Poly(vinyl alcohol) (PVA) is a water-soluble synthetic polymer with excellent film-forming, emulsifying, and adhesive properties. The aim of this study is to design a simple process for PVA cross-linking with sodium trimetaphosphate to form membrane devices suitable for biomedical applications. This procedure requires no organic solvent, nor melting process to obtain films with high mechanical ...
متن کاملSurface-charged polyacrylonitrile/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PAN/PVA) colloids used to prepare proton conducting materials
Proton exchang e membranes e xhibiting a well-org anized structure were successfully prepared by a novel self-assembling technique using surface-charged latex nanoparticles as building blocks. The nanoparticles were synthesized in water by free-radical copolymerization. Free-standing membranes were obtained by casting the poly mer e mulsions followed by a cross-linking reaction. The acquired me...
